Making a Cartoon

I have decided to put all my test footage on my site to show some of the things people might not be able to ever see as part of my show. I plan to start adding “How-Tos” and the steps I took making a cartoon. The best place I found to start is using Adobe Character Animator The most obvious example of using Character Animator is Kung Panda in Ryans World. If you ever wanted to make a cartoon, hop over to their sight and using your mic and a web cam, can start in just a few minutes. The Professional version is required to make your own puppets.

Early Testing

These two test shots are the original designs for two of my grand kids. The show was always going to be an animated podcast. If you haven’t seen the pilot episodes, please check them out. Dysfunctional Family The two to five minute short story at the end has changed a lot. Originally my grandson was going to be the hero. I noticed that my daughter-in-law didn’t seem comfortable with putting her son out there. The same character will be used but I am removing the direct link to the kids and make them more generic. We’ll see.

Enemy Number 1

My first idea for the bad guy was this character I call Ghost. He’s a really neat character with lots of direction I could tale him. He didn’t fit for the boss of whatever was after us but served as a good minion. These were test shots for putting together his entrance into our world with my grandson becoming a Ronin for the first time. He defeats Ghost and none of the adults knows what happened. I’m pretty sure I won’t use much of this.

Animals

Anyone with inside information knows I have always wanted to use an animal. I have some good art for both our cat and dog but I didn’t want anyone comparing their relationship to Family Guy, especially since none of the adults knew anything about my grandson being the hero. My cat made me think of Sabrina The Teenage Witch. Of course the fish and seahorse will make you think of a mixed up version of Pinky and the Brain.

The snake at the time of posting is brand new. I had been trying to figure out how the fish would attack on land. I found a fish in armor and jet packs at Adobe Stock but they look better used as an army. Almost all of the art is mine but a bunch of my backgrounds started as an asset I got from others and modified it almost to a point there is no evidence of what it was. Everything is licensed still and of the show becomes a hit, I will have to purchase a full license. Mainly the opening song.
